One of Sweden’s most successful/notorious stage exports visits Stoffholm with their uncompromising production of “Sigurd der Kreutzritter”.
Institutet has a history of inviting audience to journeys deep into the darkness: Together with the Finnish group Nya Rampen and Markus Öhrn Institutet has previously produced „Conte d’Amour“ (2011) and „We love Africa and Africa loves us“ (2012).
In „Sigurd der Kreuzritter“ the artists of Institutet and members of the “Toten-Pop” band Lovac continue their exploration of what they call „the monstrosity of normality“. This time the monster under investigation is the perpetrator of a so called „Amoklauf“.
A seemingly normal citizen suddenly bursts out in an excess of violence and destruction; leaving his fellow students, collegues and neighbours asking „Why?“. As seen in Spree Killings, School Shootings and in the – both: unusual and horrifying – case of Anders Behring Breivik (the white Crusader Terrorist from Norway) there are no satisfying answers to everybody‘s questions, and we are left to deal with our shared discomforts of civilisation that the monster arrived to point out.
